Mahjong for a Cause

For me, this is personal. My dad, Ben Carter, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at just 63. Since then, I’ve seen firsthand the power of community and cognitive connection — and how important research and resources are. That’s why I’ll be hosting a Mahj’N Play session during the event, bringing together Mahjong players to support this important cause.

Our Mission

Every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer’s Association in their mission to advance care, support, and research. The Longest Day is about community, connection, and purpose — showing that when we come together, we can bring light to those impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia.​

Why It Matters

This cause is deeply personal to us. Katie’s vision inspired the idea of Mahj’ing for a Cause, and what began as a small gathering has grown into a tradition where Mahjong and generosity go hand in hand. It’s about more than tables and tiles — it’s about showing up for each other and celebrating the power of community.
