The Alzheimer’s Association Longest Day - Mahjong Event
The Longest Day is the Alzheimer’s Association’s annual fundraiser, held on the summer solstice — the day with the most light — to shine hope into the darkness of Alzheimer’s and dementia. In Charlotte, we’ll celebrate with a day full of Tennis, Pickleball, and Mahjong at the Charlotte Country Club, raising funds and awareness in support of research, care, and prevention.
This will be our 10th Annual Longest Day fundraiser at CCC, and we’re thrilled to be part of a collective effort alongside Myers Park and Carmel Country Clubs with a goal of raising $65,000. At CCC, we aim to raise $25,000 to directly support the Alzheimer’s Association.
Mahjong for a Cause
For me, this is personal. My dad, Ben Carter, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at just 63. Since then, I’ve seen firsthand the power of community and cognitive connection — and how important research and resources are. That’s why I’ll be hosting a Mahj’N Play session during the event, bringing together Mahjong players to support this important cause.
This is the heart of The Longest Day: do what you love, to support those you love.
Our Mission
Every dollar raised supports the Alzheimer’s Association in their mission to advance care, support, and research. The Longest Day is about community, connection, and purpose — showing that when we come together, we can bring light to those impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia.
Why It Matters
This cause is deeply personal to us. Katie’s vision inspired the idea of Mahj’ing for a Cause, and what began as a small gathering has grown into a tradition where Mahjong and generosity go hand in hand. It’s about more than tables and tiles — it’s about showing up for each other and celebrating the power of community.
