The Cooper Royal Foundation's Annual Mahj-A-Thon
The Cooper Royal Foundation’s Annual Mahj-A-Thon is the first and leading Mahjong charitable event in the Carolinas, now heading into its 4th year. It’s not a formal tournament — it’s a fun, social night out where Mahjong lovers gather to celebrate, connect, and support a cause that matters. Think laughter, friends, community prizes, and the joy of play — all while raising awareness for families with special needs.
A Night Out for a Cause
Each Mahj-A-Thon is designed to give players and friends a fun night out filled with laughter, connection, and play — all while supporting families with special needs through the Cooper Royal Foundation (CRF). From spring celebrations like April Showers & Mahj Flowers, to Galentine’s nights and themed gatherings, every event puts Mahjong at the center of joy and giving.
What started with just 18 tables has grown to 30+ tables and continues to expand, proving how powerful this community can be when we gather for something meaningful.
Our Mission
The Mahj-A-Thon supports the Cooper Royal Foundation (CRF), founded by our dear friend, amazing mother, and superstar Mahjong teacher Katie Barradale. CRF provides resources and builds awareness to amplify love and understanding for families with special needs. Learn more at 👉 cooperroyallfoundation.org
Why It Matters
This cause is deeply personal to us. Katie’s vision inspired the idea of Mahj’ing for a Cause, and what began as a small gathering has grown into a tradition where Mahjong and generosity go hand in hand. It’s about more than tables and tiles — it’s about showing up for each other and celebrating the power of community.
