Mahjong Mingle at The Club at High Hampton

The Club at High Hampton members join us for a one day special event. Classes for beginners and intermediate players followed by lunch, open/guided play, and shopping!

10:00am - 12:00pm Mahj’N 101 or Mahj'N Strategy

12:00pm - 1:00pm Lunch

1:00pm - 3:30pm Mahj’N Play- Open or Guided Play

3:30pm - 4:30pm Shop and Martini’s

10:00am - 12:00pm: Mahj'N 101 - For the brand new, first time player looking to learn American mahjong from the very beginning. Learn the basics: identifying the tiles, objective of the game, reading the NMJL card, and format of play. No prior knowledge or experience needed.

10:00am - 12:00pm:  Mahj'N Strategy - Advanced strategy with tips & tricks for those that already know the basics of American mahjong and want to improve their skills. We will deep dive into the new 2025 NMJL card, develop strategies for choosing a hand, strategies for defensive play, and increasing speed of play so you become a more confident player. We will also break down the new 2025 National Mah Jongg League card so you can learn everything you need to know about the new card whether you are a new or seasoned player. Learn the ins and outs, strategies, patterns, and game winning secrets. We will focus on the changes in the new card, new key patterns, strategic insight on selecting the right hand based on your tiles, back-up hands and pivot options, and developing winning strategies. There will be time to practice all of these skills during open play.

1:00pm - 3:30pm: Mahj'N Open Play: Play some fun rounds of mahjong. Tips and guidance provided.

1:00pm - 3:00pm: Mahj'N Guided Play: Have you had a lesson or two, but still feel like you have questions? Come, play, and ask questions.  Play with an instructor present who will provide guidance and answer questions. Build confidence in setting up, dealing, the Charleston, picking a hand, and remembering ALL the rules. This guided play session will get you ready to play independently.

3:30pm - 4:30pm Shop and Martini’s- Shop the beautiful tiles and accessories from The Mahjong Line as well as other mahjong accessories- cups, napkins, pouches, soaps, coasters, and more!

This event is open to members of The Club at High Hampton and their guests. We provide all the mahjong sets, learning materials and fun for an unforgettable experience. We can't wait to get our mahj on with you!
